Assassin's Creed Unveils Unexpected AoT Event for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre collaboration that defies usual forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Mission Disclosed
According to the formal release, "An unusual confrontation leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where hints of prohibited rituals and monstrous transformations reverberate through the shadows." The plot introduces a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a clandestine sect.
The adventure concentrates on "peculiar trials and a fearsome enemy" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Settings and Metamorphoses
The teaser showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview ends with a dramatic sequence showing a character, presumably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Rewards and Extra Features
Players who successfully complete the adventure will obtain an exclusive katana together with multiple artifacts secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Unique weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Addition
This update also introduces the game's newest complimentary story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive techniques: Naoe debuts a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Previous Japanese Animation Collaborations
This represents hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime properties. The series previously showcased a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla subtly included a quest that unmistakably echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
