Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline including angels, fiends, and dark forces growing in influence within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of characters who will separate from the main group to embark on their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might look out of place, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the party understands precisely where to go next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing started the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, striking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, wants revenge.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could assist the team reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the northern region in quest for the traitor.
Future Episodes
From episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Seekers and Planners tables.
