Space Traveler Reveals Emotional Distress In the Wake of Wave of Harassment Following Journey

A pioneering space traveler has opened up regarding her emotional downturn after facing a relentless barrage of criticism in the aftermath of a pioneering women-only spaceflight.

The 34-year-old activist – celebrated as a researcher and activist – was part of the 11-minute suborbital flight in April, which also featured well-known figures.

“I did not leave Texas for a week, unable to get out of bed,” she confessed. “A month later… I had to hang up… because I could not speak through my tears.”

The researcher, who has focused her career on women's health research and conducted tests during the flight, said every professional achievement – from her lab work and years of training to the symbolic importance of her background – was overshadowed under the tide of sexist vitriol.

She is widely recognized for her groundbreaking advocacy championing the cause of victims of sexual violence.

Her own dream of becoming an astronaut was paused after an attack during her university years, leading to a long campaign for accountability.

Months following fulfilling her dream, she reports that the deepest pain is gradually receding, and she expressed gratitude the supporters whose support pulled her through. “Your support rescued me,” she said.

She concluded that despite the negativity, considerable good had come out of the experience, such as increased focus on her women's health research and new advocacy opportunities.
